3rd Person is arguably one of Call of Duty‘s most controversial modes. It returned in 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and undoubtedly has its fans. After all, a section of the fanbase has complained every time it has disappeared from the game. However, lots of other players can’t stand it and want to disable it. That leaves some asking how to turn off 3rd Person in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
What is 3rd Person Mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II?
3rd Person Mode is almost identical to standard Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II multiplayer modes, however it features an over-the-shoulder camera rather than a first-person camera.
Unlike the majority of other third-person shooters, the camera will switch to first-person when players ADS in Modern Warfare II‘s Third Person game modes.
In third-person, players have a far wider and highly manoeuvrable field of view. This means players can see more of what’s around them. Similarly, the ability to move the camera around your character makes it harder for enemies to sneak up on you.
How to turn off 3rd Person Mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
To turn off 3rd Person Mode, go to ‘Quick Play’ and press square/X to open ‘Filter’ options. Deselect any 3rd Person game modes you can see in this screen.
Now, when you search for a game using Quick Play, you will no longer be placed into any 3rd Person modes.
Which Call of Duty games have 3rd Person Modes?
3rd Person Mode was first introduced in 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It was subsequently available in 2011’s Modern Warfare 3 but in Private Matches only. It then disappeared from the series for 11 years.
It made a comeback in Modern Warfare II when it was released last year and was also included in Warzone 2.0 as an optional game mode.
