Sifu turned out to be a surprise hit! People are sinking hours into it to hone their kung-fu abilities. It’s a beat ’em up game where the player controls a martial artist on his quest for revenge. The game’s levels are challenging and force you to perfect your fighting skills. And it also features a unique ageing mechanic – each time you die, you age one year per death recorded in your Death Counter. While ageing increases your strength, your health will decrease. It’s game over if you get too old from repeatedly dying. That’s caused lots of players to ask how to reset age in Sifu?

How to reset age in Sifu

Is it possible to reset age in Sifu? Yes AND no. I’ll explain. When you play through a level in Sifu, you age as you die. Once you’ve defeated a level’s final boss, you’ll remain your current age when you begin the next level. So, if you finish the first level at age 40, you’ll be 40 at the start of level two.

That means the youngest you can possibly be when starting a level is the age you were at the end of the previous level. While that might not be the answer you were looking for, you can still reduce your age. But you’ll have to start over and “git gud”. Replay the previous level and die less, and you’ll be younger in the subsequent level. To reset age in Sifu completely, you must replay the first level and avoid death.

How to reduce Death Counter in Sifu

Don’t worry, though. You CAN reduce Death Counter in Sifu. That means you’ll age less when you die. And there are a couple of ways to reduce your Death Counter.

Perhaps the most straightforward method is to defeat certain stronger enemies (it’s pretty obvious which ones will do the trick). This will drop your Death Counter by one. You can also save up 1,000XP for a special reward from the shrines which will reduce your Death Counter to zero.
