Ubisoft have announced that Far Cry 6 will be free to play this weekend. There will also be big discounts for the full game available for the next couple of weeks.
Far Cry 6 came out in October last year and took the series to Yara, a fictional country inspired by Cuba, that is led by dictator Antón Castillo (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul‘s Giancarlo Esposito).
While the game received mixed reviews from critics (mainly due to lack of innovation), our reviewer found it “a blast to play” and called it “the best Far Cry to date”.

Far Cry 6 Free Weekend
The full game and all the DLC is going free to play from August 4th through August 7th in a time-limited trial.
If you like the game, Ubisoft are offering huge discounts for you to purchase it and continue playing.
The free to play weekend and discounts are available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
Discounts range between 50-60% depending on the platform and version of the game.
To start your free weekend with Far Cry 6, simply search for it on the relevant platform’s digital store. That would be PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS4, Xbox Games Store for Xbox, Ubisoft Connect or Epic Games stores on PC, or Stadia Store on Stadia.
What To Expect in Far Cry 6
As mentioned, Far Cry 6 takes place on the island of Yara. It focuses on rebel Dani Rojas’ fight to take down Castillo’s dictatorship.
The latest title is similar to older games in the series. It’s an open world action-adventure first-person shooter that allows you to travel the world on foot or by vehicles that can traverse land, sea, or air.
The world is split into seven main regions. You must fight the enemy in each of those areas to reduce their dominance over the country.
Far Cry 6 includes all the weapons that fans have come to expect. However, it also introduces new Resolver weapons. These are special prototypes with unique and whacky perks, including one that shoots CDs.
