Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 02 Reloaded launched on 15 March and introduced plenty of mid-season goodies for players to enjoy. However, error code 2901 has also reared its head and is causing problems.
Bugs and errors are common occurrences every time a new season or mid-season update begins in Call of Duty. They are usually brought on by a number of factors, but can be primarily attributed to the new features, modes, maps, weapons, and playlists.
But that doesn’t make them any less frustrating for fans who just want to enjoy the game. And error code 2901 is a particularly irritating bug because it prevents players from playing Modern Warfare 2.
In particular, it appears to stop players from joining lobbies in MW2. This is indicated by the error notice which states the following:
“Lobby Not Found – Check the code and try again. Error cause: 10. Error code: 2901”
Unfortunately, this doesn’t give players much of a suggestion about how to fix the error code.
CoD MW2 error code 2901 solution
There are a few potential fixes you can try if you’re experiencing this error. The first thing you should do is restart the game. This is straightforward and can resolve most common issues encountered in the game, including multiplayer error codes.
Next, check out the official Activision Support and Infinity Ward Twitter accounts. These should give you an indication of any ongoing server problems. Unfortunately, if that is the case, it means you may be stuck waiting for them to fix the error before you can play again.
If there is no indication of any server problems and the issue persists, check your internet connection. If everything looks OK, try restarting your router. Once it has rebooted, jump back into Modern Warfare 2 and see if the error has disappeared.
For players across all platforms, if you still can’t get rid of the error code, there is one last thing you can try. Uninstall the game from your console or PC and reinstall it. Obviously, this may take some time and isn’t guaranteed to fix the problem.
PC players also have the benefit of some further possible fixes. Try updating your graphics drivers, verifying the game files for Modern Warfare 2, or installing any other lingering updates on your computer.
Sadly, there is no definitive way to resolve the error but the steps above may help.
In short, this is what to do to fix error code 2901 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2:
- Restart the game
- Check Activision and Infinity Ward Twitter accounts for official information about server problems
- Check your internet connection and restart your router if necessary
- Reinstall the game
Hopefully, one of the above suggestions works for you and you can get back into the action.
