Season one of House of the Dragon has come to an end. And what a season it has been. Not only has it been excellent in its own right, but it has also restored a lot of the lost faith in the Game of Thrones franchise after the original show’s controversial ending. So much has happened this season – but the last episode still managed to pack in plenty of surprises. One big question viewers have is “What Dragon was Daemon singing to?”.

Before we go into the “what”, it is important to examine the “why”.

As we saw in episode nine, Prince Aegon usurped the Iron Throne after the death of King Viserys I. However. Viserys had intended for his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra, to become queen upon his death.

Way back at the beginning of the season, we saw him tell Rhaenyra about the Song of Ice and Fire and formally name her his heir.

Still, this did not stop Alicent Hightower, Viserys’ wife, from prompting her son to take the throne after misinterpreting the King’s dying words.

And so, in episode ten, we are on the brink of civil war. Westeros is about to be torn apart by the “Greens” and the “Blacks” as they battle for control.

Of course, manpower is essential. But in a war between Targaryens, dragons are most important.

Counting dragons, Prince Daemon explains that “Dragonstone has thirteen to their four.” That certainly gives Rhaenyra’s forces the edge. However, Prince Aemond, Aegon’s brother, controls Vhagar, the largest of all living dragons. And that means Rhaenyra needs a dragon of equivalent size.

Daemon mentions a number of different dragons that reside on Dragonstone that are unclaimed. Later, he enters a cavern and sings to one. But what dragon was Daemon singing to?

What Dragon Was Daemon Singing To In House of the Dragon?

In Game of Thrones, there were three dragons viewers had to remember. All of them were owned by Daenerys Targaryen. They were Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.

The immense skull of Balerion, the Black Dread, is also seen in GoT (as it is in House of the Dragon) underneath the Red Keep.

Still that brings the total number of dragons in the Game of Thrones series to four. This is substantially less than the number viewers have to keep track of in House of the Dragon.

So, what dragon was Daemon singing to in House of the Dragon? Daemon was singing to Vermithor, the Bronze Fury. Vermithor was previously ridden by King Jaehaerys I until his death, after which Vermithor took up residence in the caverns on Dragonstone. The Bronze Fury is an immense bronze coloured dragon that is similar in size to Vhagar.

In the show, Daemon sings to gently wake Vermithor from his long slumber. It is clear that Daemon knows what an asset Vermithor will be in the coming Dance of Dragons.

So, there you have it – now you know which dragon Daemon was singing to.

With season one of House of the Dragon at an end, fans must now wait to see how Vermithor will come into play. We can’t wait to see it!

No I don’t want to wait. Its not fair . By then the show will not be based important and fresh on the mind of its fans . The series should not nave been aired until the 2 second was done and be shown

Entirely loved season 1 and the characters. The development of each character was great. I soon found myself engulfed with Targaryens & their strength, willfulness & wild sides! I am more than anxious to see season 2. Sooner than later, please.
