Horizon Forbidden West: How To Beat Erik in Death’s Door

Erik in Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is a huge game with so much to do. From quests to collectibles, there’s no shortage of activities to get stuck into. One such activity is its challenging boss fights. Be it colossal machines or other humans, figuring out the best way to defeat bosses is a tricky business. *Minor Spoilers ahead* One of these bosses is Erik, who appears for the first time during the Death’s Door quest. He’s one of the mysterious group of humans who appear with another clone of Elisabet Sobeck. It becomes immediately apparent they want to kill Aloy and a boss fight against Erik ensues. Here’s how to beat Erik in Horizon Forbidden West

Aloy aims an arrow at Erik in Horizon Forbidden West

As mentioned, all of Horizon Forbidden West‘s boss fights are challenging. Let’s face it, they wouldn’t be very good if they were really easy. When you first encounter Erik, he’s wearing futuristic armour that can seemingly deflect all incoming attacks. Being practically impervious to Aloy’s offence makes killing him here impossible. Instead, the only option is to escape.

This is how to beat Erik in Horizon Forbidden West‘s Death’s Door quest. Erik cannot be killed here. Instead, you must escape him. Hanging above is the “Recluse Spider” machine. First, shoot the Spider’s arms when they glow red. Once destroyed, the Recluse Spider’s main stem is exposed. Circle the Spider and shoot the glowing yellow cables on the main stem. The Recluse Spider will then collapse and destroy the floor below allowing you to escape Erik.

And that’s how to beat Erik in Horizon Forbidden West Death’s Door quest. Rather than killing him, beating him here is about outsmarting him. If you listen closely, Aloy gives vocal hints about how to escape Erik. So, now you can live to fight another day!
