This guide explains how to unlock doors in Hogwarts Legacy.
After months of waiting, Hogwarts Legacy has arrived on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The game is proving to be a massive hit with Potter fans as they eagerly get stuck into life at the legendary school.
In Hogwarts Legacy, players join the eponymous school as a fifth-year student in the 1890s. The game takes place a whole century before the Harry Potter novels and films. And this allows it to tell its own story about “a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world.”
Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive RPG that allows players to experience life as a real student. You can create your own witch or wizard, pick your own wand, and even choose one of Hogwarts’ four houses.
Once you’ve settled into the mythical school of witchcraft and wizardry, you are free to explore, attend classes, learn spells, and discover everything the Wizarding World has to offer.
One thing that players will immediately notice is the plethora of locked doors around Hogwarts.
They have large padlocks and are impossible to open – at least initially.
Thankfully, there is a way to unlock these doors. However, you first need to learn the special unlocking charm.
Let’s go over how to unlock doors in Hogwarts Legacy…
How To Unlock Doors in Hogwarts Legacy
There are many secret and off-limits areas around the legendary magical school. As a new student, you need to discover everything it is hiding.
Part of that is gaining entry into locked rooms. But this isn’t possible right away. In fact, it isn’t until several hours into the game that unlocking doors becomes possible.
This is how to unlock doors in Hogwarts Legacy: Locked doors can be opened with the Alohomora spell. You learn it as part of ‘The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament’ main quest.
Once you have unlocked the Alohomora unlocking charm, simply approach a locked door and interact with it.
You are then presented with two dials. You must move both of the dials into the correct position by using the green and red sparks to spin them into position.
The green dial activates the mechanism in the bottom right, while the red dial controls the central mechanism.
To find the correct position, rotate the dials slowly. When the relevant mechanism twitches, you are in the right area. Simply adjust the dials position until you find the sweet spot.
