The Merlin Trials were created by the legendary wizard who was himself a student at Hogwarts.
All the trials can be found outside in the area around the school. Three of them are located around Aranshire: one to the east, one in the middle, and one to the west. The middle or central Merlin Trial is the closest to the hamlet itself.

Each Merlin Trial begins in the same way: finding a spiral plate embedded in the ground.
After using Mallowsweet to activate the trial, you can start to solve it.
This is how to solve the east Aranshire Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Legacy: Find the large ball up the path to the south and move it into the hole.
From the hole, run up the hill heading southward until you get to a well on your right.
Destroy the low wall and then hit the ball with five basic casts to move it.
Repeat and roll the ball down the hill until it is in the hole.
Once the ball is in the hole, the Merlin Trial is complete.
