After the controversial ending to the Tribal Combat match at SummerSlam, Jey Uso shockingly quit WWE on the 11th August 2023 edition of SmackDown. After taking out Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa, Jey delivered a superkick to his traitorous twin brother Jimmy. Afterwards, he shouted into the camera: “I’m out! I’m out the Bloodline, I’m out of SmackDown… I’m out of WWE!” This has prompted significant speculation about his future with the company. But has Jey Uso really left WWE?
It’s safe to say the Bloodline angle is WWE’s most successful storyline in many, many years. With fan interest reaching incredible new highs, much of WWE’s renewed popularity can be attributed to Roman Reigns’ run as the Tribal Chief.
While some argue that Roman’s Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign should’ve ended at WrestleMania 39, it’s clear that WWE feel there is still plenty of gas left in the tank of the Bloodline story. For that reason, the company opted to keep the angle going by moving Reigns into another feud with Jey Uso.
Dubbed the “Bloodline Civil War”, it appeared that both Jey and his brother Jimmy had finally split from Reigns’ villainous stable. But when Jey faced Reigns at SummerSlam, Jimmy appeared and attacked Jey which allowed Reigns to once again retain his title.
This marked the end of the Usos as a tag team, which dated all the way back to their WWE debut in 2010.
Given the real-life rivalry between WWE and its lead competitor AEW, any talk of a popular wrestler leaving generates incredible amounts of discussion. Will the wrestler go to the other company? Has their contract expired? When will they debut?
But what about the Bloodline’s latest defector? Will he go to AEW? Has Jey Uso really left WWE?
Has Jey Uso left WWE?
Jey Uso has not left WWE. There are no credible reports suggesting he has departed the company for real or is planning to do so.
While he “quit” the company on SmackDown, this is part of a storyline and has been done to set up the next chapter in the Bloodline story.
Is Jey Uso going to AEW?
Despite some online rumours, Jey Uso is not going to AEW after he “quit” WWE on SmackDown.
If AEW were to sign Jey Uso, this would be a major victory for the world’s second biggest wrestling company. Jey is currently at the peak of his popularity and appears ready for a long-term main event level push.
However, that is also why it is highly unlikely that he will leave WWE any time soon. He has achieved a status in the company few could have ever imagined for him. With his newfound success, it would be hard to understand Jey’s logic if he were to leave now.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported in the 14th August 2023 edition that “I’d think Jimmy vs. Jey would be the main event” of Payback, which is WWE’s next pay-per-view.
Therefore, fans can expect Jey to be heavily involved in an escalating feud with Jimmy over the coming weeks.

14 August 2023 11:47 BSTwww could not come up with an original ideal so they did the exact same thing to key the first time he faced Roman for the title and when he had Roman beat jimmy cost him the match all it is that jimmy knows that he is not as good as jey so yeah they needed to break up besides I’m sure jey s back is killing him from carrying jimmy for so many years and everyone knows that Roman is not as good as he believes the reason he won’t defend the title is he knows without help he would never been champion
