The first official teaser image for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has been revealed. It comes after GTA publisher Rockstar Games announced early last month that the first trailer for “the next Grand Theft Auto” would be released in early December.

Rockstar Games shared the teaser image on X. While ambiguous, it appears to confirm the long-suspected setting of GTA 6 – Vice City. The image shows a sunset, the tops of four palm trees, and some seagulls in the distance. It also features the familiar pink hue often associated with Vice City.

Additionally, the image confirms the exact premiere date and time of the first trailer: 5 December 2023 at 9am ET. Mark your calendars, folks.

Fans have been pining for a glimpse of the much-anticipated game for years. In fact, many fans speculated Rockstar would announce GTA 6 by posting a teaser image. Instead, the company opted to officially announce the game on 8 November in a simple text post on X.

It received an overwhelmingly positive response and generated incredible engagement. The post currently has 1.6 million likes and has been viewed more than 183 million times.

The post has already received 936K likes and 296K retweets – and engagement shows no signs of slowing down.

Interestingly, the image refers to the upcoming trailer as “Trailer 1”. That means more trailers are sure to follow, so we have plenty more to get excited about.

It is currently unknown exactly what the trailer will show. But we’re hoping for a glimpse of new characters, hints at the game’s story, and some gameplay footage. We’re officially counting the seconds until 5 December.
