This guide covers the solution for the Jarnsmida Pitmines Nornir Rune Chest in Svartalfheim in God of War Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok is the sequel to 2018’s acclaimed God of War reboot. After four years, it’s safe to say fans are relishing the chance to jump back into Kratos’ god-sized shoes.
Despite delays and a release on the PS4 that prompted concerns, God of War Ragnarok has launched to astonishingly strong reviews. With 10-out-of-10’s abound, it’s clear the game is a standout title for Sony and a worthy successor to the 2018 game.
In the new sequel, we rejoin Kratos and Atreus as they journey to stop the cataclysmic Ragnarok and learn more about the latter’s true identity as the god Loki.
Along the way the father and son duo join forces with some old friends and come up against new, dangerous foes like Thor and Odin. However, after four years, it can be difficult to remember the story of the previous game and who everyone is.
The same goes for God of War Ragnarok‘s gameplay, too.
Despite sinking tens of hours into the last game, it’s only natural to forget how things work in this follow-up. Be it in combat, navigation, skills, or collectibles.
One feature that returns from the previous game are Nornir Rune Chests.
Rune Chests are special, locked containers that contain valuable loot. There are 34 Rune Chests in God of War Ragnarok.
The first thirty contain either an Apple of Idunn (which increases overall HP) or a Horn of the Blood Mead (which increases overall Rage). The other four will generate random rewards like Hacksilver and Enchantments.
With Rune Chests containing valuable stat boosting items, opening as many as possible is essential.

Jarnsmida Pitmines Nornir Rune Chest – Svartalfheim – God of War Ragnarok
To open Rune Chests, players need to find three seals bearing the same runes as the chest.
Once found, the three seals must be either destroyed, set alight, spun, or have its bell rung. Which one depends on the type of Seal – but it will be the same for all three Seals relating to one particular chest.
As you’d expect, the seals are located in difficult to find areas near the Rune Chests. Some are much easier to find than others. But it isn’t unusual to spend fifteen minutes running around looking high and low for the last one.

Rune Seal Locations
For this Nornir Rune Chest, you mist light all the seal braziers.
The first brazier. is to the left of the chest.
The second brazier is on top of a rock down to the left.
Drop down the rock face and look straight ahead. However don’t light this one until after the third one as the water from the chute above will put it out.
To get to the third brazier, recall your Axe (you will have used it to freeze the water chute above to raise the crane). Then use the grapple point to the left of the second seal to get across the gap.
The third brazier is on the other side. Once lit, return and light the second brazier.
