This guide explains how to get through the blocked path as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok‘s Old Friends quest.
God of War Ragnarok is the sequel to 2018’s acclaimed God of War reboot. After four years, it’s safe to say fans are relishing the chance to jump back into Kratos’ god-sized shoes.
Despite delays and a release on the PS4 that prompted concerns, God of War Ragnarok has launched to astonishingly strong reviews. With ten-out-of-tens abound, it’s clear the game is a standout title for Sony and a worthy successor to the 2018 title.
In the new sequel, we rejoin Kratos and Atreus as they journey to stop the cataclysmic Ragnarok and learn more about the latter’s true identity as the god Loki.
Along the way the father and son duo join forces with some old friends and come up against new, dangerous foes like Thor and Odin.
However, after four years, it can be difficult to remember the story of the previous game and who everyone is.
The same goes for God of War Ragnarok‘s gameplay, too.
Despite sinking tens of hours into the last game, it’s only natural to forget how things work in this follow-up. Be it in combat, navigation, skills, or collectibles.
God of War Ragnarok introduces sections where you play as Atreus instead of Kratos. And that has a learning curve all of its own.
Atreus plays fundamentally differently to Kratos because he predominantly uses ranged attacks with his bow. Similarly, puzzles you encounter as Atreus require slightly different solutions due to the lack of Kratos’ Axe and Blades.
In the Old Friends quest, Atreus and Sindri set off to meet with Freya. However, along the way they come up against a number of obstacles.
One such obstacle is a simple path that is blocked at both ends. And it’s leaving some players stumped.
So, let’s go over how to get through the blocked path as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok…
How To Get Through The Blocked Path As Atreus in God of War Ragnarok
As you follow Sindri, you will eventually come across a path with a blockage at both ends.
Of course, you need to get around it in order to progress. But it’s a little unclear which end you need to be headed through thanks to the markings.
Thankfully, the solution is relatively simple and only requires the use of Atreus’ Sonic Arrows.
This is how to get through the blocked path as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok: If you followed the path all the way along, double back on yourself until you’re at the other blockage. Shoot the Soundstone panel with the Sonic Arrows. Then run back up the path to get a higher vantage point and shoot the other panel from the back.
Once you’ve created a hole in the blockage, you can squeeze through the gap to the other side.
And there you have it – now you know how to get through the blocked path as Atreus in the Old Friends quest. You can now push on to meet Jörmungandr and Freya.
