This guide explains what is Trial is in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact is a vast and varied action RPG. Its gorgeous anime art style, relaxing and ambient soundtrack, and unique characters have helped it build a huge audience.
But for new players in Genshin Impact, there is lots to learn. And the game doesn’t always do a great job of explaining how things work or what they mean.
One example of this is Trials. You may notice a new character in your party with the word “Trial” next to their icon. Or perhaps you’ve seen Trials mentioned in the menus but don’t know what it means. So, how do they work and are Trials something you should care about in Genshin Impact?
What is a Trial in Genshin Impact?
This is what a Trial is in Genshin Impact:
A Trial – alternatively known as a Character Trial – is an opportunity for players to test out characters they haven’t unlocked. Trials are part of in-game Events, Domains or Quests and help players understand how specific characters work and perform in the game and what their abilities are.
When trialling a character, the character is heavily restricted and cannot be modified. This includes their weapons, artifacts, talents, and constellations which are preset by the game.
During Test Run events, players are able to try characters available via the current Character Event Wish. A player’s party during a Test Run are comprised entirely of Trial characters.
If you aren’t interested in testing the characters available in Test Runs, these Events are still useful to unlock in-game rewards such as Primogems.
