GAME, a staple of the UK high street and perhaps the most iconic video game retailer in the country, has confirmed that it will not stop selling physical copies of games despite reports to the contrary.

Gfinity Esports originally reported that, according to their sources, the retailer would stop selling physical games.

“Following the move away from pre-owned games, consoles and technology, the iconic British storefront will no longer stock gaming related content in-store. Sources close to the retail store tell Gfinity that gaming hardware and software will only be available on a pre-order basis,” wrote Gfinity’s Lewis White.

In response to the report, VGC reached out to GAME for confirmation that physical sales were to end. The company refuted the story, calling it “categorically not true”.

GAME added that they will continue “to support the physical gaming market, offering a wide range of physical games, hardware, software, accessories and digital products, in stores and online”.

So, there we have it. GAME are not looking to end the sale of physical games anytime soon – great news for those of us who like to buy their games the old fashioned way.
