While Roblox’s low-end graphics and somewhat janky games can be off putting to more serious gamers, it is popular with kids all over the world. It allows players to explore a variety of free and premium user created games. However, Frontlines – a Roblox Call of Duty clone – is bucking the trend by delivering high quality visuals and deep FPS mechanics.
The first-person shooter game by creator Maximillian promises “A rush inducing, first-person action experience.” Since launching on 22 February, Frontlines has gone viral and amassed more than 13 million visits. Its meteoric rise to the top of the Roblox charts has been helped by coverage from popular streamers and YouTubers like JackFrags.
As a free alternative to Call of Duty‘s AAA multiplayer experience, Frontlines is generating a lot of interest from those who are either too young to play or are unwilling to invest in Activision’s juggernaut FPS.
Frontlines: What is Roblox Call of Duty clone?
Frontlines is an immersive first-person shooter that boasts graphics and mechanics you would expect to find in the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield. It began with a single goal: to create “a game that inherits the same qualities as those you’d see in the larger industry to grab the respect and attention from people who didn’t come from the Roblox community.” It is safe to say that Frontlines succeeded.
The Roblox shooter is impressively deep. It currently supports games 7v7 game modes such as Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and Kill Confirmed across various maps. What’s more, it features various different weapons like the MP5, M4, and EBR. Each of these can be customised in a gunsmith system similar to Call of Duty.
Custom loadouts can unlocked by levelling up. There are also leaderboards, statistics, and customisable calling cards to unlock. All in all, Frontlines boasts a first-person shooter experience that rivals most top-end games.
Creator Maximillian told Insider Gaming that, due to their initial success, they plan to “push out a significant amount of content, including more weapons, skins, maps, features, and gamemodes.”
How to play Roblox Call of Duty clone Frontlines
Playing Frontlines is simple. All you need to do is download Roblox by going to the official website or the Microsoft Store. It is free, so you don’t have to worry about being charged.
Once you have downloaded Roblox, simply create an account and log in. From the home screen, search “Frontlines”, select it, and click the green play button to jump in. That’s it.
After booting up Frontlines in Roblox, start by selecting your weapons. To do this, click the weapons slots at the bottom of the screen.
Once you have kitted yourself out, hit the “Spawn” button to jump into Frontlines.
