This guide explains how to change graphics mode in Forspoken.
Square Enix’s new action RPG Forspoken has finally landed on PS5 and PC as the first AAA launch of 2023.
Despite promising trailers, the game has received a somewhat mixed reception. Nonetheless, there’s a fair amount to like about it. And players are eagerly getting stuck in to the magical world of Athia.
Forspoken comes from developers Luminous Productions. It stars Ella Balinska (Netflix’s Resident Evil) as Frey Holland.
Frey is a New York City girl down on her luck and facing jail time. In a crazy twist of fate, she ends up in Athia after finding an enchanted cuff.
In Forspoken, Frey faces off against the Tantas. They are a tyrannical ruling clan that control Athia. Frey must use her freshly discovered magical powers to explore the mysterious continent, defeat dangerous foes, and find her way home.
Athia is a huge fantasy open-world. Thankfully, Frey can make use of unique traversal mechanics to dash and fly across the massive world using magical parkour.
Before launch, Forspoken was touted as having incredible graphics. The final product is kinda… Underwhelming. But it still offers three different graphics modes to help you get the most out of its visuals
So, let’s take a look at how to change graphics modes in Forpsoken…
How To Change Graphics Modes In Forspoken
Most current-gen console games feature different graphics modes for players to choose from. Typically, there are two: fidelity (or quality) and performance.
However, Forspoken has three different graphics modes: Performance-focused, Quality-focused, and Ray Tracing.
Quality-focused aims to achieve a stable 30fps at 4K resolution. Performance-focused targets 60fps at 1440p. And Ray Tracing mode simply adds Ray Tracing light effects. The latter option runs at a lower resolution to compensate for its visual benefits.
This is how to change graphics modes in Forspoken: Go to Settings > Display Settings > Image Quality Settings, and then select the desired graphics mode.
Having tried all three different visual settings, I’d say the best option is Performance-focused.
Forspoken‘s visuals are relatively underwhelming on all three modes. And they don’t look significantly better in the Quality-focused or Ray Tracing modes.
Instead, Performance-focused mode offers a higher frame rate that compliments the game’s fast-paced action.
