F1 22 Crashing Repeatedly and Fans Say It’s Totally Unplayable

F1 22 has been out for one whole day – but gamers are having an incredibly difficult time playing the game at all. Type “F1 22 crashing” into Twitter and you’ll be met with loads of tweets from angry fans.

And who can blame them? EA’s reputation is already tarnished thanks to a history of rushed and buggy games. F1 22 seems to be the latest in a long line of letdown EA titles.

With the huge surge in interest thanks to Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the launch of F1 22 was a good opportunity to convert some fans. However, these issues are only going to have some customers asking for refunds.

It is unclear why F1 22 is crashing. But it seems to be incredibly common. For some, it’s happening in the middle of races. For others, the game is crashing in the menus. Some are even unable to get past the start screen, as the video below shows:

Twitter is inundated with angry fans who are unable to play F1 22. Of course, there are a few lucky ones who have actually managed to play the game. But it seems to be for no more than a few minutes at a time.

The issues aren’t limited to one platform either. Would-be players are reporting issues on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Regardless of how often the crashes are happening or what’s causing them, EA and Codemasters need to fix it. One crash is too many for a full-priced AAA title, let alone the volume we’re seeing here.

As of writing, the official EA and Codemasters Twitter accounts have been quiet on the serious crash issues players have been facing. The dedicated @EAHelp page hasn’t addressed it, and the official F1 22 Known Issues forum doesn’t mention it, either.

In the meantime, fans and journalists are trying to identify fixes themselves. Below are a list of suggested fixes. They may work with varying success.

2. Check for and install new game updates.
3. Close background applications and programs.
4. Check for and install Windows updates.
5. Disable Steam/other overlays you use.
6. Check your firewall is not blocking or interfering with F1 22 files.
7. Exclude F122.exe from the ransomware protection in Windows.
8. Ensure PC is not overheating.

F1 22 Crash Fix – PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One

This is how to fix F1 22 crashing on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One:

1. Check for and install new game updates.
2. Check for and install PlayStation/Xbox updates.
3. Ensure console is not overheating.
