It’s been more than a decade since the release of GTA V. While the game is arguably one of the greatest ever, fans are more than ready for something new. Rockstar Games has, of course, confirmed the next Grand Theft Auto instalment is in development. But an official reveal is yet to take place. As a result, speculation about the reveal date of GTA 6 persists.

A huge part of this speculation is the proliferation of increasingly desperate fan theories. The GTA community often sets itself up for disappointment, and a recent theory may be just another example of this. However, some fans on social media are convinced they’ve figured out when the GTA 6 reveal will take place.

They believe the clue to GTA 6‘s reveal lies in the marketing of Rockstar’s previous games.

Naturally, many gamers will roll their eyes at this. Rumours about GTA 6 are everywhere and new ‘insider leaks’ about the game’s release, setting, characters, and story pop up all the time. But this doesn’t make them true. So, is there any credibility to these new rumours and when do fans think GTA 6 will be revealed?

GTA 6 reveal date fan theory, explained

Some Grand Theft Auto fans believe GTA 6 will be revealed on a Tuesday in October 2023.

While this may sound oddly specific, the theory is based on the dates GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were announced.

For those that can’t remember, GTA V was first announced by Rockstar Games on 25 October 2011. The official announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 followed five years later on 18 October 2016. Both dates fell on a Tuesday.

This is all the evidence the most recent GTA 6 announcement theory has. But to many eager fans, it signifies hope. After ten years of nothing more than a tweet confirming the game’s existence (and those disappointing leaks), fans are yet to see anything of the next Grand Theft Auto.

With that being said, some keen fans will surely be glued to Rockstar Games’ X account throughout October 2023’s remaining Tuesdays; the 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st.

Unsurprisingly, reaction from the wider Grand Theft Auto community to the reveal rumours has been mixed. On 10th October, one GTA fan wrote “Few hours till disappointment or greatness”. Another shared an image of a depressed-looking dog staring at a phone alongside the caption “GTA 6 fans waiting for Rockstar to tweet something (it’s a Tuesday in October)”.

@KrisBN_ posted in support of the October reveal date: “Rockstar tends to reveal their new games in October, so they might give us the first official teaser for GTA 6. RDR2 was first teased on October 16, 2016. All signs point to this being the year we start seeing the marketing begin!”

Conversely, @that1detectiv3 urged caution when it comes to any of the dates being shared: “Just a heads up, now that we’re in October you’ll be seeing a lot more alleged GTA 6 “leaks” popping up, and all of them will be fake. No one has concrete information on a reveal date. We can only speculate based on statements made by Take-Two.”

It remains to be seen whether the game will actually be revealed this month. But until Rockstar officially unveils Grand Theft Auto 6 or announces the date of its reveal, all rumours should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

For now, however, the “Tuesday in October” theory might be the best hope we have of an imminent GTA 6 reveal.
