Everspace 2 – the sequel to 2017’s space shooter – arrives on PC tomorrow, 6 April.

The early access preview build of Everspace 2 has been available on Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service for some time. However, the full release will also be on PC Game Pass on release day, it has been confirmed. For those without a subscription, the game will also be on the Microsoft Store, Steam, and GOG.com.

The first game featured procedurally generated roguelike elements. However, the new sequel does away with that and leans heavily into open-world exploration.

Everspace 2 allows you to create your own ship and engage in frantic dogfights as you meet alien races, discover new worlds, and battle outlaws. There are a huge range of ships to collect and customise in the game, too. From nippy interceptors to powerful gunfighters, each class has its own unique attributes and deep customisation options.

Everspace 2 has drawn strong comparisons to the classic space shooter Freelancer thanks to its engaging and impactful 6DOF (six degrees of freedom) flight and combat systems, as well as its extensive economy and trade features. Navigating the economy as a true intergalactic capitalist is essential in Everspace 2 with there being many opportunities to maximise your profits.

This sequel also has its own campaign that continues the story introduced in the first game. As you progress through the “handcrafted open world” you will uncover mysteries, solve puzzles, and fend of danger.

What’s more, there is an endless supply of valuable loot to find. This can then be sold or used to upgrade your own ship. Either way, with high risk inter-galactic fights comes the potential for high reward.

Everspace 2 is also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in Summer 2023; however, the exact release date is unconfirmed. In the meantime, PC players can get a head start by diving in on PC Game Pass from 6 April.
