Despite launching for PC in two weeks time, Enshrouded remains without an exact PS5 or Xbox release date.
The upcoming survival game from indie developer Keen Games has already been released in early access on Steam. The full release is currently set for 24 January.
Keen Games had previously said that Enshrouded‘s console launch would coincide with the game’s full release. This was back in May when the developer responded to a fan on X asking about a potential console release and said, “pc only for Early Access, then Playstation 5 and Xbox X|S for the full release!”
The official Enshrouded FAQ page also addresses questions about an Xbox and PS5 release. “The game will be released in Early Access on Steam in the course of 2023. Eventually the full version will be released on PlayStation5 & Xbox X|S in 2024,” it reads.
A teaser video shared on X on 4 January only included the Steam logo at the end. This is normally where developers list all the available platforms. The absence of PlayStation and Xbox logos implies that the console release will not coincide with the PC launch.
With the full PC release fast approaching and no announcement from Keen Games, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Enshrouded will be landing on consoles this month.
Enshrouded is an open-world survival game with base-building elements. In the game, players jump into the shoes of Flameborn, the “last ember of hope of a dying race”. Players can use multiple weapons to fend off enemies, as well as traverse the map by walking, gliding, or using a grappling hook.
Keen Games has not said that the planned console release has been cancelled. From previous statements, it appears to still be pencilled in for 2024.
