From Software’s upcoming open-world RPG has been pushed back by one month. Elden Ring was originally scheduled to be released on 21st January 2022. But a surprise tweet confirmed Elden Ring delayed. It will now be released on 25th February 2022.

Additionally, From Software announced an Elden Ring Closed Network Test for players to put the game through its paces ahead of release.

What is the reason for the delay?

In an unexpected Twitter post, the official @ELDENRING account announced the delay and provided the new Elden Ring release date.

So, why was Elden Ring delayed? The Elden Ring team cited “the depth & strategic freedom of the game” exceeding expectations as the cause of the delay. However, it’s unclear exactly what that means. It does sound a bit like From Software is saying “our game is just so good you have to wait”, but hey-ho. Whatever the exact reason, Elden Ring obviously needs more time otherwise it wouldn’t have been delayed. And after the Cyberpunk 2077 debacle, I think we can all agree we’d rather a game is delayed than released in a poor state. The Elden Ring team added: “Thank you for your trust & patience”.
