It might sound like a stupid question. But how to save in Dying Light 2 isn’t quite as straightforward as you might expect. And as a zombie survival RPG, there’s plenty of reasons to want to save frequently. Chiefly because you’ll be spending much of your time looting and improving Aiden’s abilities by acquiring XP and unlocking skills.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human can be tough. And saving serves as a safety net against losing hard-earned progress. So, what are your options when it comes to saving? Can you save whenever you want? Here’s what you need to know about how to save in Dying Light 2….

How to Save in Dying Light 2

You can’t save manually in Dying Light 2. But it uses an auto-save system which saves the game at regular intervals so significant progress won’t be lost. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t ever lose any progress. Frustratingly, it’s also tricky to figure out exactly how long ago the game auto-saved. Because of this, your best bet is to rely on a few in-game mechanisms which activate auto-save.

Helpfully, these methods are easy to take advantage of. Perhaps the most obvious auto-save triggering activity is the completion of objectives and missions, and lots of small mission milestones will create a new save. Fast travelling (which you’ll eventually unlock and can be used via metro stations) also causes the game to auto-save. Another easy auto-save option is sleeping – simply use one of Dying Light 2‘s numerous beds and the game will save.

As far as saving is concerned, Dying Light 2 Stay Human isn’t all that different from other popular open-world video games. Auto-saving is standard these days, and if you’re used to the genre you likely won’t find saving in Dying Light 2 too much of a problem.
