Dead Space was beloved by survival horror fans back in 2008. Now, in 2023, Motive Studio is hoping to recapture the magic with the brand new remake for modern gaming hardware. But can fans expect content after it’s ten-or-so hour campaign is finished? And does Dead Space have New Game Plus?
It’s an understandable question. Contemporary video games are expensive, and Dead Space is a full-price AAA title.
That means players will naturally want more bang for their buck. Unfortunately, survival horror games don’t always lend themselves to replayability. And Dead Space‘s forays into multiplayer and co-op modes in the second and third instalments arguably contributed to series eventual downfall.
It’s for that reason that many fans will be hoping for a New Game Plus (NG+) mode in the Dead Space remake. For those that don’t know, New Game Plus is a feature found in many modern games.
New Game Plus usually allows players to restart a single-player campaign from the beginning. But, this time, they’ll start with all the gear, items, skills, and abilities already unlocked.
The mode may also offer additional, previously unavailable, unlockables, as well as new story content and exclusive trophies/achievements.
So, can fans expect this in the remade Dead Space? Does Dead Space have New Game Plus?
Does Dead Space Remake Have New Game Plus?
The inclusion of New Game Plus in modern, big-budget video games is almost a given at this point. And even if the mode isn’t included in a new title, it’s often released later as part of an update.
With 2023’s Dead Space being players’ first chance to step into the boots of protagonist Isaac Clarke in ten years, it’s unlikely many will be completely satisfied with a single playthrough.
And that’s where New Game Plus comes in.
Dead Space does have New Game Plus. The mode was confirmed by the Dead Space official Twitter account in response to a fan question.
EA has also shared details of the game’s New Game Plus mode and what players can expect from it. It will feature a Level 6 Advanced Suit, new Phantom Variant Necromorphs, and a secret ending.
It’s currently unclear exactly what a ‘Phantom Variant’ Necromorph is, but they certainly sound spooky.
And we’re definitely intrigued by the promise of a secret ending. Even though we have no idea what it means for Isaac and game’s story as a whole.
