This guide answers “does A Plague Tale: Requiem have 60 FPS?”
A Plague Tale: Requiem is the much-anticipated sequel to 2019’s A Plague Tale: Innocence. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It continues the tragic but inspiring tale of Amicia and Hugo de Rune.
A Plague Tale: Requiem picks up six months after the first game and follows the siblings’ battle against the Inquisition and black plague infected rats.
At the start of the game, things seem to be much improved for Amicia, Hugo, their mother Beatrice, and friend Luca. Before long, the brother and sister duo encounter a group of mysterious and murderous men on a farm. This sets off a brutal chain of events.
Requiem improves on the first game in a few important ways. Not only does it look better, but it also has expanded combat options, improved stealth, an intuitive automatic progression system, and larger areas.
As with the first game, Requiem is packed full of puzzles to solve – often in tense life or death situations.
As a result, the game requires you to engage your brain every step of the way. It is crucial to think your way around most situations in the game.
When players first load up the game on consoles, they will notice it is running at 30 FPS (frames-per-second).
For years, 30 FPS was the standard on PlayStation and Xbox. However, with the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, players have grown accustomed to the smoothness that 60 FPS offers.
So, does A Plague Tale: Requiem have 60 FPS?…
Does A Plague Tale: Requiem Have 60 FPS?
Most games that are released for current generation consoles come with two modes. A visual or quality mode and a performance mode.
Visual/quality modes tend to offer 4K resolution and ray tracing at 30 FPS. Performance modes aim for 60 or 120 FPS at reduced resolutions and with ray tracing disabled.
However, A Plague Tale: Requiem is not one of those games. It doesn’t have switchable graphics modes.
So, does A Plague Tale: Requiem have 60 FPS? Unfortunately, A Plague Tale: Requiem does not have 60 FPS. It is limited to 30 FPS (or 40 FPS if you have a 120Hz monitor/TV).
Also somewhat disappointing is the resolution. Most current-gen titles running at 30 FPS manage to do it in 4K resolution. A Plague Tale: Requiem, however, runs at 1440p.
Along with Gotham Knights, A Plague Tale: Requiem continues the disappointing trend of new games being limited to 30 FPS on console.
