This the Pyro boss guide covers where to find him, what loot he drops, and how to defeat him in DMZ.
The Pyro (pictured above) is a new boss introduced in Season 3 of Warzone 2.0‘s DMZ mode. Like previous bosses in DMZ, he is harder to kill than standard enemies and drops special rewards when defeated.
When compared to other bosses, the Pyro is probably the toughest in the game thus far. Not only does he wield a devastating KV Broadside/Riot Shield combo, he is also surrounded by goons and explosive barrels. Threat of death is high, so the Pyro is best tackled with a squad of three well-equipped Operators.
Where to find the Pyro in DMZ
This is where to find the Pyro in DMZ:
- The U.S. Embassy in Al Mazrah City – upstairs on the north side of the main building.
- The Post Office in Al Mazrah City – on the top floor accessible via the elevator.
- The Control Tower at Al Malik Airport – inside the control room at the top of the tower.
While the notification informing you of the Pyro’s presence can occur anywhere, he actually only appears in one of three locations listed above. Each one is a special point-of-interest that requires the specific key or a Skeleton Key to gain access.
Sometimes the Pyro will be holding the Weapons Case. When this happens, he can be found inside that marked area making things much easier.
To get the relevant key needed to access the locations, go to a nearby Buy Station where there is a chance you can buy it for $30,000.
Another option is to acquire a Skeleton Key. These can be obtained by swapping a GPU in the new “Barter” menu at Buy Stations.
How to defeat the Pyro
As mentioned, the Pyro is one of the toughest bosses in DMZ. He has a large amount of health and can absorb a lot of damage before being killed.
To beat him, you must avoid the devastating dragon’s breath rounds from his shotgun while navigating around his defensive shield. He is also accompanied by a significant number of AI soldiers, and is surrounded by explosive barrels and Trophy Systems. Be sure to go in fully-equipped with three-plate vests, plates in reserve, and at least one self-revive per player.
The best course of action is for players to alternately aggro the Pyro as the other squad mates jump around his Riot Shield and attack him from behind. Alternatively, you can draw him in front of explosive barrels and shoot them so they explode from behind.
Weapons Case and loot
After you have defeated the Pyro, you can collect the special rewards that he drops. As mentioned, he is sometimes carrying the weapons case; although, sometimes this appears on the train instead.
Below is the list of items dropped by the Pyro:
- KV Broadside shotgun – Deadsight 90 barrel, Hipshot L20 laser, 12 Gauge Dragon’s Breath ammo, 25 Shell Drum magazine.
- Tempered Plate Carrier – takes two plates instead of three.
- Weapons Case (random)
