This guide explains how to defeat the Leviathan boss in Dead Space chapter 6 Environmental Hazard.

Fifteen years since the launch of the original game, the Dead Space remake has arrived on consoles and PC. The new game resurrects the series with modern graphics and refined gameplay. But the terrifying horror remains.

Dead Space follows protagonist Isaac Clarke after he and his crew become stranded on the USG Ishimura while answering a distress call. Once onboard, they discover that murderous creatures – Necromorphs – have taken over the spaceship and are murdering the surviving crew.

In the game, Isaac must fight for survival and find a way off of the doomed ship. However, first he needs to find his girlfriend, Nicole, who happens to be the Ishimura’s chief medical officer.

Along the way, you’ll encounter some seriously scary and powerful enemies. One of these is the Leviathan. The Leviathan appears at the end of chapter 6 Environmental Hazard.

It’s a giant amorphous Necromorph which has spread throughout Hydroponics deck and contaminated it with poison gas. This makes the deck almost impossible for humans to navigate.

Isaac spends most of chapter 6 eliminating eight gruesome poison-breathing Wheezers created by the Leviathan. This rids Hydroponics of the gas. Once this is done, you can proceed to the Food Storage facility to fight the Leviathan.

The Leviathan is a challenging boss and tough way to close out chapter 6. Keep reading to find out how to defeat the Leviathan in chapter 6 Environmental Hazard…

How To Defeat The Leviathan Boss In Dead Space Chapter 6 (Environmental Hazard)

Entering the Food Storage facility is a daunting experience. The huge room is pitch black and your thrusters engage. Yes – you will be facing the Leviathan in Zero-G.

The creature is soon revealed. This grotesque thing features a huge mouth at its centre and three large tentacles.

While this may at first seem like a near-impossible fight, once you know what you need to do it’s relatively simple. You’ve just got to stay on your toes and react quickly.

This is how to defeat the Leviathan boss in Dead Space chapter 6. The fight is split into three phases. During the first phase, it will use its three tentacles to reach out and attack you. These have glowing orange bulges at the bottom which will appear as the tentacles reach out for you. Dodge the attacks and shoot the bulges to destroy each tentacle.

You will notice explosive canisters floating around. Use Kinesis to throw them at the tentacles to deal additional damage.

One you’ve destroyed the tentacles, the second phase will begin. The Leviathan will spit explosive balls at you from its mouth. Use Kinesis to grab the balls and throw them into its mouth at the centre. Do this enough times and phase three will begin.

Its tentacles will return and the room will be filled with poisonous gas. Simply repeat the tactic from the second phase and the Leviathan will be defeated. Obviously, you must be quick as you only have limited oxygen due to the poison gas.

And that’s it! You’ve beaten the Leviathan and can now progress to chapter 7.
