After getting our first glimpse of the main menu screen for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater yesterday, the man behind the voices of series protagonists Solid Snake and Big Boss has called the game “spectacular”.

Renowned Metal Gear voice actor David Hayter said on X that he has played Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater “up to the bridge scene”.

The post, which included a short video of the game’s main menu, is most notable because it featured Hayter’s thoughts on the small segment of the title that he played: “It was spectacular.”, he wrote.

David Hayter apparently got to try MGS Delta “the other day”, although didn’t provide any specifics about when or where this was. What is clear, however, is that a playable demo of the long-awaited MGS3 remake exists.

The “bridge scene” Hayter is referring to is presumably the final cutscene in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater‘s opening Virtuous Mission. In this memorable scene, Naked Snake encounters his former mentor The Boss on a rope bridge.

The Boss defects to the Soviet Union and players are introduced to her Cobra Unit for the first time. The game’s primary antagonist Volgin also appears and demonstrates his powers of electricity.

Whether the remade scene will be significantly different from the original PS2 version is unknown.

For now, it’s probably safe for fans to begin slowly raising their expectations for the remake given the high praise from Solid Snake himself, David Hayter.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is set for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this year.
