This Cult of the Lamb guide explains what is a Diseased Heart.

Cult of the Lamb is the new rogue-like action-adventure game from Australian developers Massive Monster. Its unique cult-building premise, charming art-style, and aptly crazy story has skyrocketed it to the top of video game charts.

In the game, players control a lamb who is sacrificed by four heretic prophets. The lamb is then resurrected by a malevolent deity named “The One Who Waits” and instructed to start a cult in his honour.

The game interlaces rogue-like action sequences with village building akin to Animal Crossing. Along the way, players convert new followers to their cult and must maintain their faith and quality of life.

Faith is managed through a variety of cult traditions like rituals, sacrifice, worship, and issuing religious doctrine. All in all, it makes for a wonderfully unique and messed-up experience that’s hugely rewarding and addictive.

However, the game is quite complex and there’s a lot to wrap your head around. As a result, players have a lot of questions about how things work in Cult of the Lamb.

When starting the game, one of the first things to figure out is how health works.

Like a lot of things in Cult of the Lamb, the game doesn’t explain exactly how health is increased or re-filled. There are also a few different types of ‘Heart’ that boost your health in different ways.

For context, health is monitored by Heart icons in the top left corner. Each time you’re hit, you lose half a heart. Health is regained by finding hearts as you progress through dungeons. However, not every Heart was created equal.

So, let’s answer the question “what is a Diseased Heart?” in Cult of the Lamb

What is a Diseased Heart in Cult of the Lamb

There are three different types of Hearts – red, blue, and diseased. Each have different attributes.

The name “Diseased Hearts” suggests they may have some kind of negative effect – but the opposite is true.

The Diseased Heart is probably one of the best items you can hope to find.

What is a Diseased Heart in Cult of the Lamb: A Diseased Heart is a temporary health boost that also inflicts damage on all on-screen enemies when the Lamb takes a hit. It is one of the most powerful items in the game.

So, there you have it – now you know what a Diseased Heart does in Cult of the Lamb.

If you see one, be sure to pick it up as it’s incredibly useful. The damage it inflicts is enough to finish off enemies on low health.
