Cult of the Lamb is the new rogue-like action-adventure game from Australian developers Massive Monster. Its unique cult-building premise, charming art-style, and aptly crazy story has skyrocketed it to the top of video game charts.
In the game, players control a lamb who is sacrificed by four heretic prophets. The lamb is then resurrected by a malevolent deity named “The One Who Waits” and instructed to start a cult in his honour.
The game interlaces rogue-like action sequences with village building akin to Animal Crossing. Along the way, players convert new followers to their cult and must maintain their faith and quality of life.
Faith is managed through a variety of cult traditions like rituals, sacrifice, worship, and issuing religious doctrine. All in all, it makes for a wonderfully unique and messed-up experience that’s hugely rewarding and addictive.
However, the game is quite complex and there’s a lot to wrap your head around. As a result, players have a lot of questions about how things work in Cult of the Lamb.
After progressing through the initial stages of the game, you will eventually come across The Fisherman. He invites you to visit him at Pilgrim’s Passage.
Once you’ve made your way there and spoken to him again, he tasks you with catching a variety of rare fish and says he will reward you in return.

Each one can be caught in the same place. However, some are rarer than others and require serious luck to acquire. Luckily, there’s an easy way to increase your chances.
This is how to get octopus in Cult of the Lamb: First, progress your Sustenance doctrine to level 3 and unlock the ‘Ritual of the Ocean’s Bounty’ which makes special fish more likely to appear. After performing the ritual, go to the fishing spot at Pilgrim’s Passage and simply fish until you catch an octopus. Finally, hand it over to The Fisherman for a reward.
It can take a number of attempts but if you fish for long enough after performing the ritual you will eventually catch an octopus.
