A person claiming to be a Call of Duty game designer has hinted that significant changes are coming to MW3 Zombies (MWZ) in Season 2.

@CloakandKill took to X (formerly Twitter) on 20 January to post about their work on new content for the next season.

The individual, whose X bio states they are an Associate Game Designer at Infinity Ward, said: “Just wanted to say… We are COOOKING for season 2 mwz content”.

While Infinity Ward did not lead on development for MW3‘s Zombies mode, it has been reported that all four of Call of Duty‘s main developers have been involved with Modern Warfare III content in some capacity.

If the tweet is true, this will likely come as a relief for Call of Duty Zombies fans. While MWZ got off to a promising start, it received minimal new content across Season 1 and the recent Reloaded update.

MWZ is the first major departure from the established Zombies formula since the mode’s inception in 2008.

It moved away from the popular round-based experience and is instead built on the foundations of Warzone‘s DMZ extraction mode.

Season 1 brought a new story act to the mode, although it included just one mission. Dark Aether Rifts were also added, as were some new weapons and items.

The mid-season Reloaded update, which launched earlier this week, added a new fortress and boss to MWZ. However, it was criticised for its ease and overall simplicity.

Fans have responded positively to @CloakandKill’s tweet, illustrating that many CoD players are eager for new Zombies content.

One person replied “I’ve been feeling like something big is coming. Give us all you got”. Another said “Can’t wait to see what you guys have been working on! So hyped”.

Exactly what’s in store for the second season of MWZ is unknown. However, fans won’t have to wait long to find out. While not officially confirmed, Season 2 of MW3 and Warzone is widely expected to begin on 7 February 2024.
