This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (MW3) guide explains what the Stormender is and what it does.
The saying goes that less is more. But in the case of Call of Duty, more is definitely less. Both MW3 and Warzone are full to bursting with weapons.
From lowly pistols to high-powered LMGs, there are countless weapons to choose from and even more attachments to customise them with.
Unsurprisingly, some weapons are far more viable than others. So, players are always keen to know how effective new guns are and if they could be part of the meta.
Launchers are usually absent from discussions about the best weapons. However, a new launcher was added as part of the Season One battle pass that flew under the radar – the Stormender.
This unique launcher has hardly been discussed but is unlike any other launcher in MW3 and Warzone. So, what exactly is the Stormender and what does it do?
What is the Stormender in MW3?
The Stormender is a non-lethal weapon that can be used to destroy tactical and lethal equipment. It can also easily destroy some aerial killstreaks, such as the UAV, Counter UAV, and Cruise Missile.
It fires a blue EMP blast and has infinite ammo.
If fired directly at an enemy player, it will cause their HUD to glitch for five seconds only. This is sure to make it one of the least popular weapons in the game, although it isn’t entirely useless.

- Counter UAV
- Mosquito Drone
- Cruise Missile
- Bomb Drone
- Guardian-SC
- Remote Turret
- Wheelson-HS
- SAM Turret
- Chopper Gunner
- VTOL
- Overwatch Helo
- Cluster Mine
It’s worth noting that the more powerful killstreaks will require more shots from the Stormender to destroy. This can range from one shot for a Counter UAV to as many as 12 shots for the Chopper Gunner.
What does it do in MW3 Zombies?
The Stormender launcher is arguably most useful in MW3 Zombies. That’s because it is actually capable of killing small groups of the undead.
However, a zombie in the low-threat zone can sustain multiple shots from the Stormender before being killed. Handily, though, it will slow zombies down for three seconds.
Increasing the Stormender’s rarity and pack-a-punching it will boost its range and damage. If upgraded enough, it will eventually be able to one-shot zombies in the low-threat zone.
With that being said, it is still one of the worst and least effective weapons in MW3 Zombies.
