This Call of Duty: MW3 guide explains how to use Overkill in the Open Beta.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer Open Beta is here. After months of teasing, it’s awesome to see that Sledgehammer Games appear to have delivered a Call of Duty experience that has successfully responded to player feedback.

MW3‘s multiplayer could turn out to be the best in years. While much of the game has taken things back to what worked in 2019’s Modern Warfare, there are some welcome changes. Most notably, the perk system has received a revamp.

To get the benefits of what would’ve been separate perks previously, you must now choose from different vests, gloves, boots and gear. The change is certainly a fresh take on a classic CoD system, but it can be confusing at first. For starters, Overkill is in the game as demonstrated by one of MW3‘s preset loadouts. But once you unlock custom loadouts, the option to equip two primary weapons is nowhere to be found.

After sitting in my chair feeling confused for a while, I decided to set about figuring out how to use Overkill. Thankfully, it’s pretty straightforward.

How to use Overkill in MW3 Beta

You must equip the Gunner Vest to use Overkill in the MW3 multiplayer Open Beta.

To do this, go into your custom loadout. Here you will see which vest you currently have equipped. Select it and choose the Gunner Vest. In the MW3 Open Beta, the Gunner Vest is unlocked at level 20 (the maximum level).

And there you have it – that’s how to use Overkill in MW3. Given the Open Beta’s limited selection of weapons and maps, it may be somewhat less useful than in the full game. But players can still take advantage of two primary weapons if they want to.
