Port, remaster, or remake. In whatever form it takes and on whatever platform it arrives on, a re-release of Bloodborne would be welcomed with open arms. And, once again, renewed speculation has resulted in an industry insider confirming that such a re-release is “not happening” right now, no matter how much we wish it were.

Released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive back in March 2015, FromSoftware’s Bloodborne is regarded as one of the developer’s best Soulsborne games. Since then, fans have been keen for a PC port and a PS5 remaster – neither of which have materialised.

In an interview with PCGamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoft’s president, said that he “know[s] for a fact [that the dev team] want a Bloodborne PC port.”

“If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to,” he continued.

Miyazaki then elaborated further. “Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it… So as far as I’m concerned, that’s definitely not something I’d be opposed to.”

Miyazaki’s comments suggest that he’s open to bringing Bloodborne to as many platforms as possible. This fuelled speculation on X that some kind of re-release is in the works between Sony and FromSoft.

However, before fans got too excited, Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb stepped in to confirm that nothing is happening with Bloodborne right now.

“It’s just not happening at the moment. At least not involving From,” Grubb wrote. “From’s time is worth too much, and Sony probably doesn’t want to pay the premium to lock it down. It’s hard to imagine From working on a one-console exclusive ever again.”

While Grubb’s comments don’t completely close the door on another studio working on some kind of re-release or port, it’s pretty clear that Bloodborne will remain a PS4 exclusive for some time to come. Ultimately, it’s up to Sony as the IP owner to decide if they want to move forward with such a project.

It’s worth noting that the game is playable on the PS5, although it doesn’t come with any current-gen enhancements.
