Black Mirror is back for its sixth season. This new outing of the acclaimed anthology series is perhaps its most twisted yet. The second episode of the season — “Loch Henry” — takes place in the fictional and eponymous countryside town. It follows film students (and romantic partners) Davis and Pia as they document a terrifying tale of murder and torture. After a cruel twist of fate, Pia isn’t seen in the episode again. But some viewers may be confused about what exactly happened to Pia in Loch Henry.

When the episode begins, Davis and Pia arrive at Davis’ mother Janet’s home. Janet welcomes them in and Pia learns about Kenneth — Davis’ deceased father — who was a police officer.

After reacquainting themselves with the town and its residents, Davis and Pia decide to create a documentary film about a man named Iain Adair. It is revealed that Adair was a serial killer who tortured and murdered tourists. The negative publicity related to Adair’s crimes dissuaded tourists from visiting Loch Henry. Pia believes the film could be an opportunity to reinvigorate tourism for the town.

Over subsequent weeks, the pair begins filming and pitching the documentary. After visiting Adair’s abandoned house (where he allegedly committed the crimes), Davis and Pia get into a car accident. While Davis is hospitalised with minor injuries, Pia discovers a shocking secret.

Janet and Kenneth were actually behind the murders. Iain Adair merely acted as an accomplice and footage of the killings was captured on video and stored on VHS tapes, masked by recordings of the TV show Bergerac.

Janet soon realises that Pia knows the truth and pursues her when she tries to escape. This is when events take a deadly turn for Pia.

What happened to Pia in Loch Henry? (Black Mirror)

This is what happened to Pia in the “Loch Henry” episode of Black Mirror:

Pia died after falling and hitting her head on a rock while crossing a river. She was trying to escape from Janet who was chasing after her.

Her death is foreshadowed earlier in the episode when Davis is explaining how Iain Adair hid his crimes. He says: “Around here, the countryside can be pretty dangerous. There’s deep water and all that, you know? Sometimes, people went missing.”

Pia fell in the river because it was too deep. This caused her to slip and die. Her body was then carried away by the river’s current.

Later, Davis receives a BAFTA for his work on the film but has been significantly traumatised after learning the truth about his parents and by Pia’s death.
