This guide explains whether you can skip enemy turns in Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5.

After almost three years in early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has arrived on PS5 at last. In my opinion, it is a frontrunner for game of the year. But one aspect of the game has proven controversial.

While most players love pretty much everything about BG3, some find its turn-based combat disappointing. And I am one of them. But that’s not because it isn’t good. Rather, I would simply prefer to have full control over enemy encounters without being slowed down by turn-taking.

I also think that one of the more tiresome aspects of the game’s turn-based combat is enemy animations. During encounters with large groups of enemies, it can take a significant amount of time to cycle through them all. This made BG3‘s combat occasionally feel drawn-out and time-consuming.

As such, I wanted to know whether it’s possible to bypass all the animations. I knew it wasn’t possible on PC, but could I skip enemy turns in Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5?

Can you skip enemy turns in Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5?

After spending time searching for an option to skip enemy turns in Baldur’s Gate 3, I learnt that it is not possible on PS5. You must watch each enemy take their turn, whether they are moving, attacking, casting spells or anything else.

While this is somewhat irritating, I’ve realised that it is necessary. Skipping enemy turns would mean that I’d likely miss many essential details about their moves and actions.

This would significantly increase the difficulty of the game for me as I’d have to constantly check what each enemy had done before reacting. By watching each animation play out, I get the full picture of what’s happening during combat so I can make more informed decisions.

Of course, some players may assume they’re above making sloppy mistakes. But there is a reason the game forces you to watch enemies take their turns. It helps you better understand how the game’s combat works. If you simply skipped every enemy turn, you would likely find yourself struggling to improve at the game and making careless errors. In Baldur’s Gate 3, patience is key.

You know similar strategy games have skip buttons, right? Fire emblem can be tough, but skipping those animations is not making it any harder!
