This Baldur’s Gate 3 guide explains how to stop crouching/hiding on PS5.

Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed role-playing game based on Dungeons & Dragons, may well be the game of the year. But that doesn’t make some of its systems and mechanics any less difficult to figure out and use (at least at first).

With its recent release on PS5, I’ve been spending some time getting to grips with the console version of the game and exploring Faerûn. Naturally, I was keen to see see how the experience on PlayStation compares. And it’s taken me a bit of time to figure out all the intricacies of Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5, due primarily to its significantly different UI.

In many games, I often find it’s the simplest things that can cause the most frustration – and I know I’m not alone in that. One such example of this for me in BG3 is crouching (otherwise known as “Hide”). Hiding is fairly self-explanatory – it allows players to move around stealthily, avoid enemies, pickpocket, gain attack advantages, and more.

However, I found myself accidentally triggering Hide and my characters were stuck crouching with no way to undo the action.

So, how did I stop crouching in Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5?

This is how I stopped crouching in Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5:

I stopped crouching by press R1 and selecting the “Hide” option in the action wheel (as shown in the screenshot below).

Select “Hide”.

Conversely, if your character isn’t crouching, selecting “Hide” will cause them to crouch.

In my view, hiding can be an incredibly useful action in Baldur’s Gate 3. It should always be considered, particularly during infiltration or if you’re trying to avoid confrontation. However, it will slow down your movement and may interfere with gameplay if it is used incorrectly. Therefore, I think it’s always best to ensure your characters are standing until the “Hide” action is actually required.
