This Baldur’s Gate 3 guide explains how to camp.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally left Early Access and it’s living up to the hype – and then some. Its astonishing triumph has sparked remarkable and escalating fascination among gamers, propelling it to become one of Steam’s best performing games to date.

The core drivers behind its widespread praise are its immersive narrative, engrossing gameplay mechanics, and enticing role-playing components.

Furthermore, it’s a game that requires significant amounts of thought and strategy from players. Rather than providing easy answers, Baldur’s Gate 3 wants players to invest time in deciphering puzzles and deliberating choices.

One element of this is camping. While that may sound insignificant, camping allows players to restore hit points and spell slots making it an invaluable element of the game.

When it comes to camping, there are two options. They are “Short Rest” and “Long Rest”. But what is the difference and how do you setup camp in Baldur’s Gate 3?

How to camp in Baldur’s Gate 3

This is how to camp in Baldur’s Gate 3:

To camp, select the campfire icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will provide you with the option to take a Short Rest or Long Rest. Select “Long Rest” to camp.

Once you have done this, you will go to the campsite which features a campfire, places to sleep, and more. You can also speak with each of your party members there.

What is the difference between Short Rest and Long Rest

The “Short Rest” option is available twice per day. Taking a short rest will restore some hit points and Warlocks will restore their spell slots.

When taking a short rest, you do not visit the camp. It simply provides brief respite and recovery.

A “Long Rest” will take your party to camp and end the day. To fully rest, you must have enough “camp supplies”. If you lack the necessary amount of camp supplies, your hit points and spell slots will only be restored by 50% and you won’t recover any short rests.
