After years of fans begging for a follow-up to the Left 4 Dead series, Back 4 Blood arrived in 2021. It carried over a number of the classic title’s gameplay hallmarks and features but failed to rekindle the enthusiasm of zombie-shooter fans. Reception to the game was decidedly mixed with it scoring a critic score of 77 and a user score of 5.4 on Metacritic. Now, Back 4 Blood has been spotted on sale for the astonishingly low price of just $1.

Back 4 Blood is a cooperative first-person shooter game developed by Turtle Rock Studios. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies called Ridden. The game is designed for up to four players who play as survivors with unique abilities and equipment, working together to fight off the Ridden and complete objectives.

The game features a card system called “The Game Director” that changes the gameplay experience each time you play, making each session unique. The game also has a competitive multiplayer mode where players can play as either the Ridden or the Cleaners, the survivors, in a PvP match.

Despite Back 4 Blood being the spiritual successor to the two Left 4 Dead games, it has not attained the strong following achieved by its predecessor. With interest in the game being low, it is unsurprising to see it on sale. However, being able to pick it up for $1 just two years after release is a definite shock.

Most interestingly, Left 4 Dead 2 (which came out back in 2009) still costs $27.99 at GameStop. That indicates that there is still significantly higher demand for the classic title over Back 4 Blood even though it is 14 years older.

The $1 sale was spotted by Reddit user u/NotToddHoward. Unfortunately, they did not say where they came across the incredibly cheap game, so it is unclear where people would need to go to take advantage of the cheap deal.

In the comments, another Reddit user speculated that Left 4 Dead 2‘s strong reputation when compared to Back 4 Blood is the reason for the huge difference in price. “That’s because L4D/L4D2 is actually one of the best zombie games out there,” they said.
