The end of 2023 is shaping up to be a great season for gaming. Alan Wake 2 has received fantastic reviews from critics and I for one am thoroughly enjoying my time exploring Bright Falls.
After the mysterious opening sequence that follows an unknown male on the terrifying walk to his death, players take control of FBI agent Saga Anderson who is joined by her partner, Alex Casey.
This section of the game gave me serious The X-Files vibes – and I’m not complaining. Investigating the enigmatic cult murder felt like something right out of one of Mulder and Scully’s cases from the 90s.
When I reached the crime scene, I had to look for clues as to what happened to the victim (who turned out to be a former FBI agent himself).
While exploring the area, I came across a locked stash box outside of a run-down trailer. The box was protected by a combination lock that required a code consisting of three symbols.

This is the combination code for the stash box near crime scene at Cauldron Lake in Alan Wake 2: The code consists of three symbols which can be found inside the trailer. The stash box gives the clue:
Confused? Follow the steps!
- Wash hands
- Take chicken out of Fridge
- Take a nap
The first symbol can be found in the washroom and consists of two interlinked triangles. The triangle on the left is pointed up and the one on the right is pointed down, they overlap in the middle.
The second symbol appears on the side of the fridge. It has two triangles, one pointing up and one pointing down, they overlap at the tips.
The third and final symbol is on the bedroom wall, below the window and above a mattress on the floor. It is made up of two triangles, one pointing to the left and one to the right.
Once you have the three codes, return to the stash box and enter them into the combination lock in order. Inside, you will find some goodies to help you on your quest around Cauldron Lake and Bright Falls.
