AEW Fight Forever is the first console video game from All Elite Wrestling, the number two professional wrestling company in the world and rival to WWE.

AEW announced the new game two years ago on 10 November 2020. It is the first from a non-WWE promotion since 2008’s TNA Impact!.

Since then, periodic updates have revealed more members of the game’s wrestler roster, snippets of gameplay, artwork, and more.

Now, a new report from WrestleZone claims that sources say AEW Fight Forever will receive a day one launch on Xbox Game Pass – a first for any wrestling game.

Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass are Microsoft’s video game subscription services. For a monthly fee of $9.99/£7.99, subscribers get access to over 100 titles.

As of January 2022, the service had over 25 million subscribers. Consequently, it goes without saying that a day one launch on Xbox Game Pass would be huge for AEW.

The fledgling promotion, which has taken the wrestling world by storm since its debut in 2019, would undoubtedly benefit from the increased interest of non-wrestling fans enjoying the game and then checking out the TV product.

President and CEO Tony Khan heads AEW alongside co-founders and EVPs The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) and Kenny Omega.

Omega, often named as one of the best wrestlers of all time and a former AEW World Champion, is a huge video game fan. He has been heavily involved with the development of the company’s new game.

The game will feature arcade style gameplay akin to the classic WWF No Mercy. Regarding the gameplay, Omega said:

“A match with Kenny Omega should feel like a Kenny Omega match. The same with Darby Allin or Nyla Rose. There can be universal counters, but the characters need their unique signature moves. So you’re not going to see Sting do a springboard top rope frankensteiner. Sting will feel like Sting. My hope is that whoever you like, you’ll get to enjoy playing like them in the game.

Back in September, AEW commentator Excalibur stated that AEW Fight Forever would launch in the Fall/Autumn. However, with December fast-approaching, that is looking increasingly unlikely.

Amazon states the game will be released on 31 December, but that is likely just a placeholder. At this stage, an early 2023 launch is more probable.

On release, AEW Fight Forever will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. You can check out the gameplay reveal here.
