Cult of the Lamb: How To Save

This Cult of the Lamb guide explains how to save.

Cult of the Lamb is the new rogue-like action-adventure game from Australian developers Massive Monster. Its unique cult-building premise, charming art-style, and aptly crazy story has skyrocketed it to the top of video game charts.

In the game, players control a lamb who is sacrificed by four heretic prophets. The lamb is then resurrected by a malevolent deity named “The One Who Waits” and instructed to start a cult in his honour.

The game interlaces rogue-like action sequences with village building akin to Animal Crossing. Along the way, players convert new followers to their cult and must maintain their faith and quality of life.

Faith is managed through a variety of cult traditions like rituals, sacrifice, worship, and issuing religious doctrine. All in all, it makes for a wonderfully unique and messed-up experience that’s hugely rewarding and addictive.

However, the game is quite complex and there’s a lot to wrap your head around. As a result, players have a lot of questions about how things work in Cult of the Lamb.

One of the first things players need to figure out is how to save.

Many games these days rely entirely on an auto-save feature. However, that isn’t the case in Cult of the Lamb.

Sometimes, the main menu ‘Save’ option is greyed out and unavailable.

So, let’s go over how to save in Cult of the Lamb

How To Save in Cult of the Lamb

Saving is an essential part of any game. In Cult of the Lamb, a great deal of progress can be made in even a short period of time. So, it’s imperative to save whenever you can.

Oddly, the game doesn’t make it clear exactly when and how to do it despite it being essential to recording your progress.

This is how to save in Cult of the Lamb: Saving via the pause menu is only available when at your Cult’s base camp. You are unable to save while out in the Lands of the Old Faith on a run. The game also uses an auto-save feature when travelling back to your Cult.
