Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most hotly anticipated games of 2022. And now new footage from the game has appeared following an online tech event.
Despite initially being scheduled for a 2021 release date, the game was delayed to 2022. Since then, there have been reports of a further delay pushing the game back to 2023. However, the game is still going to come out this year according to a recent official update.
The new Hogwarts Legacy footage has come at a good time. With all this talk of delays, fans have been getting nervous about if/when they will see more of the new game.
Thankfully, the new Hogwarts Legacy footage gives a great glimpse of what fans can expect from the game’s cutscenes. And it even shows wizards in action!
What’s more, screenshots of the game’s character creation suite also appeared at the event.
New Hogwarts Legacy Footage
The new video emerged at an online tech event hosted by software company Autodesk.
Autodesk’s software is used in game development. The event gave developers the opportunity to show off how the software was used to create their games.
It was shown how Autodesk Maya and MotionBuilder were used to develop Hogwarts Legacy‘s cutscene cinematics.

The new video shows off two Hogwarts students sneaking up on a group of unsuspecting dark wizards. The trio of dark wizards are trying to restrain an agitated hippogriff (one of the Wizarding World’s magical creatures) by casting spells on it.
Hogwarts Legacy Character Creation
As mentioned, the new Hogwarts Legacy footage wasn’t the only thing that appeared at the event. There were also brand new images of the character creation/customisation suite. Twitter user @Mr_Rebs_ has helpfully compiled them, as seen below:
The images show character presets, hairstyles, facewear, complexion, and eyebrow customisation.
There is also an image of the developers’ character creation tool. In it, we can see the names of in-game items.
Noticeable Improvements
Finally, the new Hogwarts Legacy footage also shows improvements have been made in the game’s visuals over the past few months.
Twitter user @yoyowkoa shared a comparison image that highlighted how the Hogwarts Legacy‘s lighting and character models have progressed.
Hogwarts Legacy Release Date
As mentioned, Warner Bros’ have confirmed Hogwarts Legacy is coming in 2022. Unfortunately, they haven’t been more specific.
Interestingly, an official artbook for the game recently got an updated release date of 6th December. Gotham Knights, another Warner Bros’ title, has an artbook releasing on 25th October, the same day as the game. If Hogwarts Legacy follows the same pattern, fans should expect it in time for Christmas.
