Fans have been enjoying The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for over ten years. Throughout that time, there’s been a long list of features that players have been crying out for. One such feature is co-op multiplayer. And now fans are getting the best co-op experience to date.
Skyrim Together Reborn is a rebuilt and updated version of the popular Skyrim Together co-op mod. The developers announced that the revamped mod will launch on Friday, July 8th at 4pm GMT.
What is Skyrim Together Reborn?
Skyrim Together Reborn is a mod for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It will be released via the popular modding site nexusmods.com.
The original Skyrim Together mod had been around for some time. However, the developers decided to discontinue the old mod. Instead, they opted to start fresh.
The code has been rewritten from the ground up, since the old codebase was too messy to work with. This decision has paid off big time, since Skyrim Together Reborn is significantly better than old Skyrim Together.

It goes without saying that introducing co-op multiplayer to a single-player game is incredibly difficult. The dev team deserve huge credit for their efforts. To manage expectations, they have said:
We are not a game development studio. We do not have any resources, our team mostly consists of students, we do all of this in our free time, and we do not take any donations. Turning a single-player game into a multiplayer game is also far from ideal.
They continued:
All things considered, you should manage your expectations before jumping into one of our mods. Our mods are not perfect. They will occasionally crash, some quests will break, there will be bugs. This is not fixable. This is just the reality of making a multiplayer mod instead of having a massive studio like Bethesda make a multiplayer game. Still, it is playable and it is a lot of fun
But hey, what more can you ask for than “a lot of fun”? Count us in!
Skyrim Together Reborn Co-Op Multiplayer Features
The revamped mod is designed for 2-8 players. It touts a range of features you’d expect from any professionally developed co-op multiplayer game.
Skyrim Together Reborn also supports local co-op servers (i.e. with people in the same house). Even better, you can easily use Xbox and PlayStation controllers on Steam. So plug-in, sit back, and enjoy the ultimate Skyrim co-op experience from the comfort of your sofa.
Skyrim Together Reborn synchronises the following mechanics across all players in the same server:
- NPCs
- Monsters
- Quests
- Dialogue
- Equipment & NPC inventories
- Magic & Projectiles
- Locks & Lock-picking
- Horses
- Puzzles
- Stealth
- Beastforms (Werewolf & Vampire)
- Time
- Health, Stamina, and Magicka
On top of that, the game does not reload a save on death. Players now respawn nearby. Or (if inside) at the entrance to an interior/dungeon.
The multiplayer server determines in-game difficulty. It is set to “expert” by default. As the dev team explains: “We recommend that you use a high difficulty, since the game was not balanced for multiple players.”
Finally, It is also possible to play Skyrim Together Reborn with other mods loaded. However, the developers don’t recommend it due to stability issues. To help with this, it’s possible for a server host to set a mod policy. This means everyone on a server must have the same mods active with the same load order.
How To Play Skyrim Together Reborn Co-Op Multiplayer
When Skyrim Together Reborn launches on 8th July, PC players should head over to Nexus Mods and download the mod files.

Is Skyrim Together Reborn Co-Op Multiplayer Available on PlayStation & Xbox?
Unfortunately not. Skyrim Together Reborn co-op multiplayer is only for PC players. Without official support from Bethesda, it is almost certain co-op won’t be finding its way to PlayStation or Xbox.
