Elden Ring‘s open-world is massive by all accounts. And exploring every nook and cranny will take a lot of time. Especially if you were to do it on foot. But that’s why FromSoftware has given players a horse – to enable far quicker traversal. If you’ve just started the game, you’re likely wondering how exactly you can unlock the horse. Once you’ve unlocked it, you’ll also need to know how to summon the horse in Elden Ring. So, read on for all the answers…

How to unlock horse in Elden Ring

You unlock the horse early on in Elden Ring. But how you do it isn’t immediately obvious. It’s also worth pointing out that there are conflicting reports regarding the exact method. However, to the best of our knowledge, this is how you do it. You need to rest at three Sites of Grace (Elden Ring‘s version of the Dark Souls bonfire). The exact Sites of Grace you rest at don’t appear to matter. And you will be able to quickly locate them early in the game, too. Having said that, it may be worth trying the Site of Grace at the Gatefront Ruins last according to various early reports from players.

Once you’ve done this, you will be introduced to a key NPC – Melina. Melina will give you the Spectral Steed Whistle. You use this to summon the horse (called Torrent).
