Infinity Ward dropped another massive update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare today. While you might be struggling for hard drive space after a succession of large updates, the latest addition offers more reasons for players to keep the game installed – even if there isn’t much room for anything else.
Not least of those reasons is the opening of Verdansk’s mysterious bunker doors, which have been a subject of fan speculation since Warzone’s launch. The fortified bunkers can be accessed with the Red Access Card – which was added last month but previously useless – and by using the keypads outside.
Once inside, players are treated to crates containing valuable loot – including stacks of cash, and epic and legendary weapons. But as some questions are answered, new ones are raised. At the far side of the bunkers are yet more barricaded doors and keypads.
What’s actually behind these doors and how you get through them is anyone’s guess (although some have managed to find a nuke hidden inside bunker 11), it stands to reason that they might form part of a season-ending Warzone event.
Some players are also reporting ringing telephones that blast out an angry Russian voice, but quite how this fits in with the mystery bunkers and other curious goings-on around the map remains to be seen.
