After an initial leak by Dusk Golem on X, IGN has corroborated the story that Capcom are working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
“A remake of Resident Evil Zero & Code Veronica in development right now,” wrote Dusk Golem. “I’ve talked to many others behind the scenes about this at this point, it’s something I heard over a year ago, think it was going to get out whether I was the one to say it or not.”
Capcom has not commented on the rumoured remakes of Zero and Code: Veronica. However, back in December, they confirmed that more unspecified remakes were in the works following the successes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4.
The two remakes are apparently being worked on in parralel to Resident Evil 9, which has been pushed back to late 2025/2026.
Resident Evil – Code: Veronica originally came out on the Dreamcast in 2000. It is regarded as one of the best games in the series and follows Claire Redfield as she encounters an outbreak of the T-virus at a remote Umbrella prison in the Southern Ocean. It was also the first game in the series to move away from pre-rendered backgrounds.
Resident Evil Zero initially launched on the GameCube in 2002 and is a prequel to the first game in the series. It follows S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team officer Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen, a former Marine Force Reconnaissance officer and convicted murderer, as they fend off a T-virus outbreak in the Arklay Mountains.
