I think most Tekken fans can agree that Tekken 8 is the best game in the series. That’s an impressive achievement for a franchise’s eighth instalment.

Part of its success can be attributed to its deep roster of fun and varied characters. Almost a month since the game’s release, attention is now turning to Tekken 8‘s future DLC characters.

We already know Eddy Gordo will be returning. But some Tekken fans are asking whether an unexpected fighter will be added to Tekken 8 – WWE superstar Cody Rhodes.

Videos have been circulating on social media supposedly showing Cody Rhodes in Tekken, complete with his trademark blonde hair and colourful attire.

As one of pro wrestling’s biggest stars and a fan of video games, a potential WWE/Tekken crossover seems like a distinct possibility. So, naturally, some Cody Rhodes fans want to know if he is in Tekken 8 or will be added in future.

Is Cody Rhodes in Tekken 8?

Cody Rhodes is not in Tekken 8 and no plans to add him to the game have been announced.

Videos purporting to show Rhodes in Tekken 8 have been made using the game’s character customisation suite.

Newer Tekken games – and, most recently, Tekken 8 – allow players to fully customise the fighters. Cody Rhodes has been created in the game by customising the appearance of the maniacal Bryan Fury.

Some players have also used boxer Steve Fox as the basis of a Cody Rhodes-inspired customisation.

With three characters still to be announced as part of Tekken 8‘s first season, there is much speculation about which fighters will be added in future.

Tekken 7 featured crossovers with both The Walking Dead and Final Fantasy. The series also has its links to pro wrestling, so perhaps one day a WWE crossover will happen.

Until then, players will have to stick to recreating their favourite superstars using character customisation.
