Call of Duty‘s seasonal updates are now a fixture of the series. Usually lasting between two and three months, they introduce lots of new content to the latest CoD multiplayer and Warzone.
Mid-way through the seasonal cycle, Activision release ‘Reloaded’ updates. These updates introduce a batch of new content as part of the current season and help keep things fresh until the next season kicks off.
Typically, fans can expect new multiplayer maps, operators, weapons, and game modes in Reloaded updates. Changes to Warzone are also included.
On 10 January, Activision confirmed via the Call of Duty blog that Season 1 Reloaded was coming soon. But when exactly will it drop?

- 12pm ET
- 5pm GMT
- 6pm CET
It’s worth noting that the actual launch time CoD‘s seasonal updates can differ slightly from the announced time, usually due to unforeseen delays. However, players can reasonably expect Season 1 Reloaded to begin at the times specified above.
Is it available to preload?
Season 1 Reloaded of MW3 and Warzone is available to preload on PS5 as of 6am PT/2pm GMT on 17 January.
Preloads typically become available a few hours before an update’s advertised start time. Users may also receive it at different times.
How big is the update?
Players may need to clear some storage space for the Season 1 Reloaded update. After all, Call of Duty updates are notoriously large.
Season 1 Reloaded is 17.745 GB on PS5 and will confirm update sizes on Xbox and PC once that information is available.
What does Season 1 Reloaded include?
Season 1 Reloaded is the second significant update for MW3 and this iteration of Warzone.
MW3‘s multiplayer is set to receive the following new content:
- New 6v6 Multiplayer Map – Rio.
- Three new multiplayer modes – Team Gunfight, Infected, and Headquarters.
- The Boys LTM and Challenge Event.
- Multiplayer Ranked Play.
- HRM-9 SMG and TAQ Evolvere LMG weapons (also available in Warzone).
Disappointingly, MW3 Zombies (MWZ) will be largely untouched by this update. However, a new Warlord called Dokkaebi will be added. Players will apparently receive “high-tier loot” for defeating her.
Over on the Warzone side, the following additions and changes will be made as part of Season 1 Reloaded:
- Champion’s Quest added, where players must win 30 games total within a season or five consecutive matches.
- Gulag Night Vision Public Event.
- Weapon Case in Battle Royale.
A new way to escape from a Battle Royale match was set to be added in the form of Covert Exfil. However, this will now be featured in a separate Warzone mode following player feedback.
This also applies to the previously announced Weapon Case. Formerly a feature in the DMZ mode, the Weapon Case gave players something valuable to seek out and fight over.
It was due to be added to standard Battle Royale alongside Covert Exfil, but will now be reserved for the upcoming dedicated mode.
