How to download Modern Warfare 3 beta (PS5, Xbox & PC)

This guide explains how to download the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta on PS5, Xbox, and PC.

Call of Duty: MW3‘s beta kicked off last weekend. It gave fans on PlayStation an early and promising glimpse of the upcoming CoD title. Early reactions have been positive, with many viewing it as a potential return to form for the long-running FPS series.

While the first beta weekend may be in the books, the second weekend is about to get underway. This time, players on Xbox and PC can get in on the action. From 12th-13th October, all PlayStation users and pre-order customers on PC and Xbox can play the beta. From 14th-16th October, the beta is available to all players across all platforms.

With that being said, the beta makes for a sizeable download (more on that in a moment). Therefore, players will want to have it ready for when it begins. So, is it available to preload and how can you download the Modern Warfare 3 beta?

Can you preload the Modern Warfare 3 beta?

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta is available to preload now for pre-order customers on Xbox and PC.

To preload the MW3 beta, players who pre-ordered a physical copy of the game must redeem their beta code. For more information on how to do that, check out this article.

If you pre-ordered the game digitally, the preload will be available to you automatically.

On PC, the MW3 beta preload is 24 GB. It is slightly larger on Xbox at 28 GB.

How to download the Modern Warfare 3 beta

To download the MW3 beta on Steam or Battle.net, you must have pre-ordered the game. Once you have pre-ordered it, the option to download the beta will appear in the store listing.

To download the MW3 beta on Xbox, go to “Call of Duty” in the Microsoft Store. Under “Choose Edition”, select “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Open Beta”. To play the beta on Xbox before 14th October, you must have pre-ordered MW3.

On PlayStation, the beta is available to everyone during the second weekend. It can be downloaded by going to “Call of Duty” in the PlayStation Store, selecting the three dots, and selecting “Beta”.

This will take you to the Modern Warfare 3 beta’s PS Store listing, where you can choose to download either the PS4 or PS5 version.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 10th November 2023.
