The hype machine for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is in full effect. At the Call of Duty: Next event, Activision unveiled numerous new details about the upcoming game, changes coming to Warzone, and much more. Viewers were also treated to a surprise appearance from Peso Pluma, which appeared to hint he will be involved in MW3 in some capacity.
For those who aren’t aware of Peso Pluma, he’s a 24-year-old Mexican musician and singer who has shot to fame with hits such as “Ella Baila Sola” and “Lady Gaga”.
As Call of Duty fans know, celebrity appearances in the franchise are nothing new. So, when the Call of Duty: Next presenters declared they had a “short message from someone who wants to say a very, very quick hello”, it seemed a special appearance from somebody famous was imminent.
A brief video of Peso Pluma was then shown. During the 14-second clip (which appeared to have been filmed in an industrial area), the singer said: “What’s up crowd! All eyes on MWIII and Double P! Something cool is coming!”
The official Call of Duty account on X also shared the clip, posting: “We see you @_PesoPluma. What you cookin’? #CODNext”.
Naturally, fans are keen to know if this means Peso Pluma will be in MW3.
Is Peso Pluma in MW3?
Activision has not confirmed if Peso Pluma will appear in MW3. However, it is very likely that he will be included in the game as part of a special operator bundle.
Operator bundles have been a staple of the Call of Duty store for the last few years. While they predominantly feature operators based on original Call of Duty characters, they often include popular characters from other IPs. Since the release of Modern Warfare II, operator bundles featuring celebrities have also become commonplace.
Recent examples of celebrity operator bundles include Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Lionel Messi, Kevin Durant, 21 Savage, and more.
These bundles typically include the operator skin, a finishing move, weapon blueprints, stickers, emblems, weapon charms, and other virtual goodies.
While it remains to be seen exactly what Activision has in store for Peso Pluma in MW3, giving the singer his own operator bundle appears to be a significant possibility.
If it does materialise, fans can expect the Peso Pluma operator bundle to cost 2,400 COD Points. This is the standard amount currently charged for Call of Duty‘s celebrity bundles.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III launches on 10th November 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. An Open Beta is set to begin on 6th October and will run across two weekends before concluding on 16th October.
